Analysis & Previews

Coach Age Hareide picked the same squad as he originally did for last month's qualifiers against Moldova and Belarus, adding Odd Grenland keeper Rune Jarstein to the group. Claus Lundekvam, who pulled out of the squad with injury, has recovered and is included. Norway are attempting to reach the finals for only the fourth time in their history after previous appearances in 1938, 1994 and 1998.

Pavel Nedved will return to help the injury-ravaged Czech Republic for the first time since retiring from internationals after the Czechs lost 1-0 to eventual champions Greece in the Euro 2004 semi-finals. He hurt his knee in that game and said he no longer wanted to play for his country because of the toll it was taking on his body. Coach Karel Brueckner has also included Monaco midfielder Jaroslav Plasil who is coming back from a foot injury. But will still be without strikers Jan Koller and Vratislav Lokvenc but Aston Villa's Milan Baros has recovered from an Achilles problem and may be paired with Galatasaray's Marek Heinz.
